Updated April 14, 2026

What is MK-677 (Ibutamoren)?

Non-peptide, orally bioavailable ghrelin receptor agonist that eliminates the injection requirement for GH axis stimulation. Despite a 5-hour plasma half-life, MK-677 produces sustained GH and IGF-1 elevation for approximately 24 hours per oral dose.

Research Profile

Structure Small molecule (~528 Da) — not a peptide
Targets GHS-R1a (ghrelin receptor)
Research Focus Oral GH stimulation, long-term IGF-1 elevation, sarcopenia, sleep quality
Reconstitution No reconstitution — oral capsules or liquid
Stability Room temperature, dry storage
Key distinction: Only non-peptide, orally bioavailable ghrelin receptor agonist — eliminates injection requirement while providing sustained 24-hour GH/IGF-1 elevation.
