Peptide Safety Considerations

Peptides are biologically active molecules requiring careful handling. Always work in a clean environment — ideally a laminar flow hood when preparing solutions for cell culture or in vivo experiments.

General Safety

  • Wear appropriate PPE: nitrile gloves, lab coat, eye protection
  • Keep detailed records of every reconstitution (date, volume, concentration, lot number)
  • Never share needles or syringes between different peptide solutions
  • Dispose of sharps properly in approved biohazard containers

Storage Safety

  • Store peptides separately from food items in dedicated laboratory refrigerator/freezer
  • Label all vials clearly with compound name, concentration, and date
  • Discard reconstituted peptides past their stability window
