How to Read a Certificate of Analysis (COA)

A Certificate of Analysis documents the quality testing performed on a peptide batch. Understanding COAs is essential for verifying research-grade purity.

Essential COA Elements

  • Batch/Lot Number — unique identifier for this production run
  • HPLC Purity ≥98% — High Performance Liquid Chromatography confirms peptide purity
  • Mass Spectrometry — ESI-MS or MALDI-TOF confirms correct molecular weight
  • Endotoxin Test (LAL) — should be <5 EU/mg for research use
  • Third-Party Lab Attribution — independent laboratory name and credentials
  • Test Date — should be within 12 months of purchase

Use our interactive COA Checker tool to score any COA against research-grade standards.
